Ojos Negros
Powered by Spanish guitars and Latin percussion, a love the Rumba Flamenca as well as traditional South American forms is evident in the sound of Ojos Negros. The ensemble, lead by Spanish guitarist Alvaro Oyarce, grew out of a monthly jam session in Kensington market. The quartet continues to explore Bolero, Cuban and Afro Peruvian rhythms always with a touch of their beloved Rumba Flamenca with Jose Turizo on electric Guitar and Daniel Mansilla on Percussion. Alvaro Oyarce and Aramik Moosakhanian met on Jan. 2009 and started to make music together. Deep understanding of world music and different styles gives their music a fresh mix of jazz-rock and Latin feel.
Joining the band is one of the Canadian best bass players Paco Luviano who has played with most of great and well-known musicians in Canada . On Drum they have Armando Borg, seasoned player that brings liveliness and a groove that never heard of. Finally all comes together with a beautiful touch of keyboard by Jim Finlayson, a well-known Canadian Jazz piano player.
